Reduction Characteristics of Iron Oxide using Carbonaceous Materials Derived from Wastes

製銑プロセスから排出される CO2 を削減する対応策の一つとして,現状未利用である有機系の廃棄物を炭材として有効利用する方法がある。本研究では,酸化鉄から金属鉄を製造するための還元材として,都市ごみ炭化物および木質バイオマス炭化物といった有機系の廃棄物を利用し,それらの炭材への適用性を実験的に検討した。主な結果として酸化鉄 (Fe2O3) と還元材 (都市ごみ炭化物,木質バイオマス炭化物,石炭およびグラファイト) の混合試料による還元実験を実施したところ,都市ごみ炭化物および木質バイオマス炭化物の各混合試料において金属鉄を生成した。これは都市ごみ炭化物および木質バイオマス炭化物中の固定炭素による還元反応性が石炭やグラファイトのそれよりも高いためである。このような実験成果から都市ごみ炭化物および木質バイオマス炭化物は還元鉄を製造するための還元材として十分に有効利用できる廃棄物であることがわかった。
